Meet The Team

Alistair
I grew up watching my local hero David Attenborough on TV and I have a love of animals and our natural world to show for it. As the years have passed it's become painfully obvious how the world is changing and David's anger, knowledge and focus has driven home that I need to do whatever possible to help force back this crisis. I've been in the wine trade since I was a waiter in my early 20s and have been fortunate enough to make it my career. I've also been involved long enough to know that the wine trade is not one which changes quickly. It's fair to say climate change is a long way down the list of priorities for the UK wine trade - that must change.

For me, sustainability symbolises a better future for all. It signifies that by working together, we can create a better world for ourselves and for future generations to come. Whether people make drastic changes to their lifestyles or businesses, or simply alter their everyday behaviours; I believe that no matter how big or how small, it will all make a positive difference. Personally, my main contribution is returning my car and instead either walking or using public transport for work and leisure activities. I’m happier knowing that I can reduce my carbon footprint in an effective way without any negative impact on my daily life. Also, I have made a conscious effort to use renewable energy providers for my utilities and recycle my waste weekly. However, there is more that I can do, and I will try my utmost to improve my sustainability. Together change is possible!

Increasingly, Climate Change has become impossible to ignore. I feel lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world, and know we’ve got to do something to protect it for our future generations. As a family, we’re always on the look out for ways to reduce our footprint, and there are some fantastic companies with brilliant initiatives to help our understanding. Ecologi’s championing of sustainable solutions for all is inspirational, and donating to them to plant trees really helps to understand my own carbon footprint. I feel better about making a difference in small ways in my daily life too – using renewable energies, walking wherever possible, shopping locally, avoiding single-use plastic..…I really believe that through these easy to make changes, we can make a big difference, whilst still continuing to do the things we enjoy.
